Swollen neck
  • Swelling of the thyroid gland in the front part of the neck is the most common cause. Hyperthyroidism does not necessarily cause thyroid swelling. If thyroid cysts, thyroid tumors, thyroid cancer, thyroglossal cysts or esophageal diverticulum appear on the side of the neck, it may sometimes be due to swollen lymph nodes, parotid tumors, subcutaneous cysts, tissue inflammation, or other benign tumors. Swollen lymph nodes in the neck may be non-specific or may be caused by inflammation of nearby organs, such as tonsillitis, alveolar abscess, laryngeal pharyngitis, otitis media, etc. In addition, they may be caused by metastasis of cancer, such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma, gastric cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer; they may also be caused by malignant lymphoma, leukemia, etc. Other conditions such as rubella and tuberculosis can also cause swollen lymph nodes
