Jaundice
  • Jaundice is caused by the accumulation of bilirubin in tissue, turning it yellow. It is most likely to appear in the cornea or in the palm of the hands, making them yellow. The causes of jaundice can be divided into three: non-hepatic diseases, such as hemorrhagic anemia; hepatocellular diseases, such as hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and other diseases of the liver; and biliary obstruction-related diseases. The most common cases are hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, bile duct stones, pancreatic cancer, liver abscess, etc. Other causes of jaundice include: some drugs, sepsis, etc. Jaundice in newborns is a non-hepatic physiological phenomenon. Sometimes when they eat too much papaya, the palm of their hands will turn pale yellow, which is similar to jaundice, but it is only a temporary change in skin color.
